@Jeffro: this is a forum for ex-JWs, I’m sure the WTBTS has warned you about us apostates, you know thinking for ourselves and not listening to what a big organization has to say on how people live their lives. Tisk, tisk, hope your elders don’t find out.

Another bad faith video
by DATA-DOG injust sharing this for all the people who hated me saying it.
funny how truth finally comes out if those of us who care enough to become lightning rods don’t let up.
it’s taken a year, but the left wing ( not the same as a traditional liberal ) nut-job bs is becoming quite evident, and this will continue across multiple subjects as time passes.

by Festus inpolice in finland has been investigating fundraising of jehovah's witnesses "for years" according to state prosecutor mika appelsin.
before year 2016 society's bank account appeared on jw's magazines and homepage.
it is legal to collect money in religious events - it is view as an offertory by law even when using contribution boxes.

@blue dog: when it’s about taxes and governments, there is no such thing as a technicality.
The fact the WTBTS removed the bank accounts from their website and magazines shows they knew something was fishy, otherwise they’d still be doing it.
This seems to have been something similar to what most other countries require (you basically have to register your non-profit and file your receipts, IRS requires this as well). It seems that local congregations were fine, but they published a bank account for some centralized WTBTS entity (may even have been the US entity) that didn’t have the necessary paperwork or didn’t qualify for the non-profit status (what I could find on the case is pretty murky and Fins don’t necessarily have the same legal concept for churches and non-profits)
If I understand the Finish laws well enough is that the other problem for WTBTS is that they require the WTBTS to tell both the government (and upon request the donor) WHERE the money is going (basically is my money going to fund ISIS or feed the poor). They didn’t want to follow for fear it may have required them to show too much information?

The Difference Between Doctors & Nurses and Police?
by Simon inwhat is the difference between doctors & nurses, and police?.
studies have estimated that medical errors cause 250,000 deaths per year in the us.. police only kill around a thousand people each year in total, with only a small number being unjustified or accidental.. so the difference?.
police are expected to be perfect and for all the hype, you're are far greater risk of being killed by someone in the health industry than by a cop.

@RocketMan: if the police tried to apprehend a suspect but had to let him go because he “resisted”, first of all, nobody would ever go to jail and second, who would be held responsible when they victimized someone else?
Because guess what the media would be saying: 12yo black kid shot by gang member because racist police let him go.
If you don’t want to get shot, don’t fight with police, it’s simple, they are better than you at both fighting and shooting, they trained for it. No sane person would think they can win.
And yes, it is legal for the police to shoot someone who presents an immediate danger to themselves or the public. That classifies anyone trying to run away in a car, anyone with outstanding warrants for weapons charges, anyone with a gun, a knife or other weapon.
The fact not more criminals get shot is a wonder in and of itself. What would you do if you’re standing face to face with a hardened criminal twice your size and with known weapons and a violent history? I would squeeze the trigger as soon as I got a clear shot. And that has been every moronic criminal the media has drug up so far: Breonna Taylor, George Floyd and every “say his name” were active criminals, resisting the police in their legal duties and actively tried to kill or hurt the police while they were being apprehended.

What police have to deal with
by LoveUniHateExams inso, the actions of cops have come under scrutiny in recent days, what with the trial of derek chauvin and the death of daunte wright.
i certainly hope justice is served in both those cases.. what is easy for people to forget, is just what police officers have to deal with on a regular basis, during their interactions with citizens.. here's a video breaking down one such interaction.. a car owner was driving his car but the tags weren't legally displayed.
cops wanted him to pull over but the driver continued driving for a mile and a half with a police car following with sirens and lights.

Do note that for all the crap we give police officers in the US, the US has one of the lowest crime rates in the world.
Compared to many places in Europe and Asia, every person of any race and gender is a lot safer here.
Norway and Denmark, the countries that always get pulled out as the hallmark of police reform and no-jail has a “rape epidemic”. Women simply can’t walk outside anywhere in Nordic countries’ cities without being harassed or raped and Amsterdam, Rotterdam, Brussels, Paris and other major cities are following quickly where no-go zones have now been established for going on nearly 2 decades.
Other northern EU countries including the UK have crime at twice, three and four times the rate of the US which is well below the average.
We take care of our criminals way too much. More criminals should get shot and police and civilians should get full immunity for it. We should also reinstate the death penalty within 36 months of conviction for any murder while committing other crime. It would lower the crime rate significantly.

Derek Chauvin - The Right to a Fair Trial
by Simon inanyone following the derek chauvin trial?.
if you are actually following it, not just listening to the media, you will likely realize that there is a huge gap between what is going on in court and what is being reported in the media.. if the trial was fair, i think he should be acquitted.
there is plenty of reasonable doubt about the cause of death (his dealer doesn't want to testify because he could be guilty of 3rd degree murder for selling him a fatal amount of fentanyl) and even doubt over whether the officer even had his knee on the guys neck or did anything counter to what they were meant to do as per policy.. but is it fair?

I got pulled over for driving slow once too. The police thought I was drunk, but I was just looking for a nearby store in the dark. They held me for some time to assess whether I was drunk or high and then let me go. It was really annoying, but it's nothing to start fighting for.
If Floyd and all the other blacks had just remained calm and went to the police station, they may not have died. Fighting with cops is generally a bad idea, they have guns and training.

Does the practice of refusing service to churches violate federal discrimination laws?
by dropoffyourkeylee inconcerning recent threads about providing building repairs or other services for a church, i am wondering about how the wt stand would hold up under legal scrutiny.. example; a jw is self employed in the hvac business.
a church calls him to provide routine service for their heating and cooling system.
suppose it is in area which is predominately of a certain race or ethnicity.

The Civil Rights Act of 1964 is a hot pile of garbage as it encroaches on First Amendment rights. The only reason you even know it exists is because it was a compromise between Republican Civil Rights Acts which had already been enacted since the early 1950's which the Democrats famously filibustered.
Hence, you are right, you can be sued under the Civil Rights Act, but you won't be convicted under your First Amendment privileges.
Recently this act was stretched to encompass personal decisions on sexuality, so you are violating Civil Rights Acts if you don't agree with people that force their decisions on you.

Are You Confident With Covid Vaccines and What Officials Say Is The Right Thing To Do?
by minimus inmost of my friends have gotten the vaccines and are quite confident that it’s just what the doctor ordered.
i’m not confident with dr. fauci.
i don’t like the fact that the makers of the vaccines are not held responsible if someone taking the vac develops an illness or even death.

In the US antibody tests show more than 20 million people have been infected with coronavirus without knowing it and that is a conservative estimate, some estimates (what I call pandemic porn) have doubled and tripled that while Fauci himself believes this number to be 100M. On top of the 36M that have tested positive, we can say at least 56M (up to 136M) people had COVID - 563k died with flu, pneumonia and COVID-19 symptoms (that is the official CDC diagnosis to be included in the statistics).
But even accepting the official statistics which is really the worst case scenario: the official death rate is 1% if you catch it. If you believe Fauci and the left-wing media, the death rate is 0.3% But we also know that 90% of those deaths are in the risk group of >65.
The chance you die from the vaccine is 1 in 6M currently (0.0016%), 1 in 40M (0.00025%) for any vaccine - the chance you get hit by lightning is 1 in 500,000 (0.2%) or slightly better than the left-wing believes the death rate to be.

Vaccine Passports: THIS Is Where It Leads
by Simon inthis is a good watch.. i agree with it 100% - the people pushing for everyone having to carry id are the ones that have shown over and over again that they can't be trusted with people's information.
the tech companies want it because they would be able to link online tracking and information logging with people's real-world activities.
the government wants it because they would have control over people and movement.. both should be chilling to anyone with half a brain.. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=uggvgke0n8o.

@Steel: Israel is lifting restrictions, that’s the main difference between US and Israel - sane policy. We had herd immunity before Israel did, yet we are still required to mask, schools are still closed (Israel never did), 6ft policies even though CDC says that was wrong all along and you cannot get sick if you’re in the same room if vaccinated, now they want to force us vaccine “passports” that contain not just your medical history but continuously track you. Both Fauci and Biden have said to triple mask until at least next spring and Fauci said last week that those restrictions on large groups may never be lifted because HE personally doesn’t feel comfortable.

New war - Russia vs US?
by LoveUniHateExams ini've read a couple of articles recently about the situation developing in ukraine.. in 2014 putin sent russian troops into crimea and annexed this area.
crimea has either an ethnic russian majority or a substantial russian minority.. there's also an area of eastern ukraine called donbass which, again, either has a large number of ethnic russians or a huge amount of pro-moscow rebels.. so, vladimir putin is currently sending tanks, jeeps, guns and soldiers to eastern ukraine, and ukrainian president volodymyr zelensky is also fortifying adjacent areas with ukrainian troops and military hardware.. nato and biden support ukraine and biden has apparently sent two us warships to the region.. where is this all going?
where is the eu in all this?.

The EU won’t stop it and Obama didn’t stop it. Biden won’t stop it and Russia knows it. Why do you think Russia and North Korea were dormant for 4 years and Biden has been in office for a week and North Korea restarted sending rockets into Japan, Iran started building its nuclear facilities again and Russia started moving deeper into Ukraine.

Why Do People Loot and Destroy When Someone Gets Shot?
by minimus insomeone gets shot and or killed and hundreds of people decide to loot and destroy businesses or whatever else is in their path.
what does this do to make things better?
i really don’t get how they think it makes things better or solves anything..

Because that’s what criminals do when you tell them nobody will stop them. These people are criminals on a regular day, when you tell them there won’t be police, they will take advantage.
